Trump's Missed Opportunity

"And then everyone should just wear a damn mask, like you guys are, like I am right now."- Senator Marco Rubio to reporters after a GOP lunch with Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday

Dress-Sandro, Crossbody-Sandro Shoes-Prada

Never have I lacked confidence in a president as I do at present. Never have I felt so anxious, and so anxiety ridden as an American as I do at present. Never have I felt such anger at my leaders as I do at present. Never have I felt so uncertain as I do at present. President Donald Trump is to blame for my feelings of anxiousness, anxiety, anger, uncertainty, and insecurity. President Donald Trump is to blame, as America is under the threat of a deadly pandemic and rather than face it head on and deal with it, the president appears to instead be ignoring the pandemic all together.

Ignoring a pandemic does not make a pandemic go away. The corona virus pandemic is not going away. The deadly virus is not even close to going away. The deadly virus is literally exploding across the nation and apparently our president is choosing to look the other way and do nothing. Doing nothing is sending more and more Americans to the ICUs. Doing nothing is sending more and more Americans to their deaths. To date 128,783 Americans have died and the number is steadily rising. The death toll is rising, and America's president is doing much about nothing as to comfort or aid Americans through this time of darkness.

As America is trudging through this time of darkness, I am at a conundrum as to why the president continuously misses his opportune moments to display the leadership so desperately needed at present. Just recently, the president held a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The president was urged by many not to hold the super spreader event, yet he insisted on holding his rally. The rally was a flop largely due to a Tik Tok video urging others to request Trump rally tickets with no intention to ever use them. However, the flop of a rally could have been used to the president's advantage as to address the nation on the present status of the corona virus pandemic.

Trump's rally did not have to be a flop. Trump's rally could have been a turning point for this president had he said and done what should have been said and done long ago. First and foremost, the president could have used the empty seats in the stadium as to social distance everyone. How better to show the nation the importance of social distancing than to have the president have his campaign staff social distance everyone in attendance at his rally? Next, the president should have had all in attendance wear the masks that were handed out to them just prior to the rally. How better to show the nation the importance of wearing masks than to have made masks mandatory at the president's rally? Millions of Americans watched the president's rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Those millions of Americans watching, needed to see a stadium of mask wearing Trump supporters. A stadium of Trump supporters wearing masks would have made a huge impact. The president dropped the ball that night in Tulsa, he had the perfect opportunity to admit he was wrong about the virus, and that the virus was far from being gone. The president could have admitted how badly he wanted to hold on to the nation's stellar economy. The president could have, and should have told Americans the importance of wearing masks. The president could have also stressed the importance of social distancing. The president instead glazed over the deadly virus, and seemed to talk just to talk.

The president failed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The president failed to be honest with the people and he failed to deliver a speech with words of compassion for those suffering from the deadly virus. The president failed to deliver a speech with words of hope, that better days are ahead for those unemployed due to the deadly virus. Not only did the president fail to attempt to fix his mistake of avoiding the deadly pandemic at his rally, but he failed to deliver words as to unite the nation in these times of racial division as well.

The president missed his opportunity to display the leadership that he has failed to display throughout the corona virus pandemic. While I've been greatly disappointed in the president, I desperately wanted him to succeed at that rally. I wanted the president to succeed as I knew I needed to feel I had a leader  for whom I could have some faith. I instead saw a man for whom I have no faith. President Trump is not a leader. President Trump doesn't have what it takes to lead a nation out of darkness. People say repeatedly that President Trump is not to blame for the corona virus pandemic and I agree. However, President Trump is to blame for his response to the virus or rather his lack of responding at all to the virus. The president was advised we were opening too soon. The president knew we were opening all too aggressively. The president was warned and against all the warnings he urged the nation to reopen. When the nation was reopened I can't help but wonder what if? What if we had a president that wore a mask ? What if we had a president that urged others to wear a mask? What if the president swallowed his pride and admitted he was wrong ? What if the president took that Tulsa, Oklahoma rally flop and used it to his advantage? Unfortunately, I can look at all the what ifs of the president, and play Devils advocate, but at the end of the day I am left with those feelings of anxiousness, anxiety, and uncertainty. I am left with anger and disappointment in my president, my president that I so desperately wanted to jump on the Tulsa opportunity.  Never ever, have I lacked such confidence in a president as I do at present, and for that I am saddened. I am saddened as I have to wonder what will become of the greatest nation on earth? I wonder ....

Two Men Two Very Different Men

Two men, two very different men, two very different men indeed. One man is White, and is from a privileged background, the other is Black, and is from and under privileged background. One man was fortunate to have been brought up by two parents, the other man was brought up by a single mother. One man was brought up in an affluent neighborhood, the other man was brought up in low income housing. One man was well educated having gone to boarding school, and the Wharton School. The other man, an athlete played both High School and College football and basketball. One man obtained four draft deferments, thus escaping having to serve in the military and was then able to take charge of the family's real estate business. The other man, was a blue collar worker, a hip hop artist and a religious mentor. He was convicted of eight crimes, and served four years in prison.  One man has made and lost a fortune time and time again, has been sued by many, has been known to have cheated on all 3 of his wives, has disrespected and insulted both men and women, and has seemingly gotten away with lying and cheating the good majority of his life.  The other man, after serving time in prison has helped his mother recover from a stroke, been involved in a ministry that worked with a church helping in drug rehabilitation and job placement. He also delivered meals, and did an anti-gun violence video. One man is 74 years old, is married, has five children, and ten grandchildren. He is Donald J. Trump who is the 45th president of the United States. He as  president has accomplished little of what he stated he would do, but his few accomplishments now pale in comparison to his recent failures. The other man, is the late George Floyd, who was a 46 year old security officer, unemployed, due to the coronavirus pandemic who was killed on May 25th, 2020, during his being arrested for allegedly using a $20. counterfeit bill to buy cigarettes. Surviving the late George Floyd, are his five children and two grandchildren.

Two men, two very different men indeed. Two men very different with one commonality. That one commonality is that both men have been wrongly put up on pedestals and idolized to an extent that is overwhelmingly disturbing. Somehow, two men from two very different worlds have somehow become "God" in the eyes of a good many Americans, and the result has been the beginning of great division in America. The death of George Floyd, an African American, at the hands of a White police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota showed America that racism and racial tension are far from being non existent in America. Beginning May 26th protests, riots and looting took place in some 2000 cities and towns across America. Widespread violence against police officers attempting to control the crowds and respond to the looting of small businesses and luxury stores took place. Small businesses were set on fire, luxury stores were left with empty shelves, highways and local streets were shutdown, all in the name of one man named, George Floyd.

The late George Floyd was not a hero, but he was also not the evil criminal that conservative commentator, Candace Owens painted him out to be either. Candace Owens released a video shortly after the death of George Floyd stating that Floyd had been arrested several times for drugs and aggravated robbery. Owens stated that Floyd had put a gun up to a pregnant woman's stomach during a home invasion robbery, and that he had served time. The late George Floyd, was a man with a troubled past, who seemingly had gotten his act together to do some good. He was convicted of eight crimes, and in 2009 he accepted a plea deal for a crime in 2007, and served four years. According to court records, there is nothing that states that George Floyd ever held a gun to a pregnant woman's stomach during the home invasion robbery in which he was involved. As so it would seem, the story somehow got grossly exaggerated and was used as a talking point for Candace Owens. Owens, who was quite possibly fed the intelligence by the Trump administration, as the day after her video proclaiming that George Floyd was a common criminal, she met with the Vice President and others for a meeting. Ms. Candace Owens was correct, George Floyd was not a hero worth destroying towns and cities across America, however, President Trump is not a hero either, nor is he the second coming of Christ as some have hinted.

Neither the late George Floyd, nor President Donald J. Trump are heroes or Gods, nor are they to be idolized either. they are both very different men, but both men have a cult like following. The late George Floyd was not a hero, but then again he was a hero to those who loved him.  Likewise, President Donald J. Trump is not a hero either, yet he has managed to manipulate the public into thinking he is not just a hero, but quite possibly "God". The late George Floyd, dead, has managed to have the same affect on African Americans nationwide. Unfortunately, to the detriment of the nation, both men being wrongly idolized has led to the destruction and division of America.

While African Americans and Caucasian Americans on the side of Floyd have every right to be angry at the murder of the late George Floyd, they do not have the right to destroy private and public property in the name of George Floyd. What happened to George Floyd was wrong and it was horrific, but what happened to America was also horrific. Americans realized soon after the death of George Floyd, that racial division was very much prevalent across America, and that America did not have the leadership needed to repair that racial division. America's, God, President Donald Trump, that many Americans have wrongly idolized, failed. He failed at stepping up to the plate as to deliver the speech of all speeches as to stop the protesting, rioting and looting across America. America desperately needed to hear from the president, not a week after the protesting, but the day of the protesting had begun. President Trump needed to assure the nation that the unnecessary killing of any man at the hands of a bad police officer was and is unacceptable. President Trump needed to assure Americans that police brutality would come to an end. President Trump needed to call for police reform across the nation as to protect the lives of ordinary citizens as well as our law abiding law enforcement officers.  President Trump needed to not tout how much he had done for Black Americans, but tout what needed to be done for Black Americans  as so Black mothers could feel safe when they sent their sons out the front door. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta, stated that every day a Black mother sent their sons out the front door, they worried they might not come back. President Donald Trump needed to address her concern. President Donald Trump needed to be firm, yet compassionate to the millions of Americans concerned about the racial tension brewing across the nation. He failed. He failed, and still a good many of his followers liken him to Jesus Christ or even the late Sir Winston Churchill as according to White House press secretary, Kaleigh McEnany. The fact is, in these past few months, the President has been anything, but a hero and to his detriment many of his followers fail to hold him accountable, and let him know otherwise, and the result? The result is the division of America stemming from two men, two very different men wrongly idolized.

As a footnote, the unnecessary killing of yet another African man at the hands of a White police officer, took place on June 12, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia. Rayshard Brooks, 27 years old, married with 3 daughters and a stepson was shot and killed by a White Atlanta police officer proving that our law enforcement officers across the nation need not to be de-funded, but need to be reformed.

Dictator Don

Full Rose Garden Speech of the president.
"But we cannot allow the righteous prize and peaceful protesters to be drowned out by an angry mob. The biggest victims of the rioting are peace loving citizens in our poorest communities, and as they are President, I will fight to keep them safe. I will fight to protect you. I am your President of law and order and an ally of all peaceful protesters."-President Donald Trump as peaceful protesters were sprayed with tear gas, and shot with pepper balls

“The president held up the Bible at St. John's Church yesterday,” Mr. Biden, a practicing Catholic, said, “I just wish he opened it once in awhile instead of brandishing it. If he opened it, he could have learned something. -Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

I waited. America waited. The world waited, we all waited for the president of the United States to step up to the plate and show leadership. We waited for the president to say something. Amidst all the chaos and anarchy taking place across the nation due to the horrific murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Americans waited with bated breath for something from the president. We waited and heard nothing. Protests due to the death of George Floyd started in Minneapolis on May 26th,  and from there the protests spread like wildfire. By May 30th, the protests had spread across the nation, from coast to coast, and from sea to shining sea. Thousands of protesters marched to demand justice for 46 year old, George Floyd. In those marches in the name of the late George Floyd, American citizens used their first amendment rights as to voice their contempt for his murder. While the majority of protests were peaceful, all were not. Evil lurked among the crowd. Citizens taking advantage of a bad situation out of greed, and or as to make a political statement, tarnished the memory of the late George Floyd. Looting, arson, violence, and complete destruction took place across the nation. Cars, and buildings were burned nightly, small businesses destroyed, luxury stores ransacked to the bare shelves, and bank ATMs were blasted open. Complete anarchy across the nation was taking place, and no address to the nation was made by President Trump.

Americans and the world watched in horror as the president did not address the nation as one would have hoped. The president did nothing, but tweet during the widespread violence that was taking place nightly across the nation. The president's tweets threatening protesters with rhetoric such as,"when the looting starts, the shooting starts", and telling protesters that if they attempted to breech the White House fence they would be greeted by, "vicious dogs and ominous weapons", did not help matters much. With the president's antagonizing and threatening tweets that seemed to do more harm than good, it left many Americans to think that the country was better off not hearing from the president than hearing from him.

As of  Saturday May 30th at least twelve major cities had declared a curfew. By June 2nd Governors in 24 states including America's capital, Washington D.C., had called in the National Guard activating 17,000 troops. By June 3rd, over 11,000 people had been arrested and at least 16 people were killed. One killed was a 77 year old Black retired police officer.  The world watched in horror as America, a once great nation was in complete disarray with civil unrest, destruction, and anarchy all around. A week had passed and other than a brief mention of the civil unrest in the streets and George Floyd's senseless murder at this weeks rocket launch, not one word from the president.

Let heaven and nature sing, on Monday, June 1st, President Donald Trump addressed the nation from the White House Rose Garden. After days of the president's advisers recommending that the president speak out as to unify the nation, the president decided to make an appearance. White House sources say Jared Kushner was responsible for the president not speaking out. For some unbeknownst reason some say Jared wanted the madness across the nation to continue. If many had to guess, the only reason the president decided to speak to the nation was as to prove a point that he was not a coward. All week the hashtags, bunker baby, bunker Don, and coward in chief had been trending on Twitter. Word was that the president had been hiding in an underground bunker beneath the White House.

With the lack of empathy the president displayed in his speech this past Monday, the president should have probably stayed holed up in hiding in his bunker. As America and the world watched the president address the nation, most watched in sheer astonishment. As the president spoke, America looked like China, or North Korea. America did not look like America. Surrounding the White House were hundreds of police officers in riot gear and several hundred troops all around. At first glance, one would have thought America was at war. America was at war. America was at war with the president, and clearly the president was at war with America.

"The option to use active-duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act." "I've always believed and continue to believe that the National Guard is best suited for performing domestic support to civil authorities in these situations, in support of local law enforcement."-Defense Secretary Mark Esper)

Upon listening to the president's speech I'd be lying if I didn't say that I wanted him to have his defining moment. I wanted him to shine. Despite my differences, I wanted the president to speak to the nation with the empathy so desperately needed as to unify the nation. The president failed. The president spoke like that of a Dictator. The president dictated his message of power like that of a Dictator not a president. A president speaks to the nation. A president does not dictate to a nation. When a nation is in turmoil a president needs to show he cares. This president doesn't care. The president stated that justice would be served for the late George Floyd, and he stated that he was an ally of the peaceful protesters. An ally of the protesters doesn't spray peaceful protesters with tear gas and pepper balls. Dictators use force on peaceful protesters. As the president spoke, I couldn't help, but think back to former presidents, and other leaders in times of trouble that spoke with emotion and compassion. After September 11th,  former President G.W. Bush spoke to the nation with real feeling. He didn't speak from a teleprompter. He spoke from the heart. He didn't need words written, he knew what needed to be said and what he said brought the nation closer together. President Trump's speech did anything, but bring the nation closer together.

This past Monday, President Trump did not say, nor do what needed to be done or said as to unify this nation. He instead infuriated and terrified the nation. He terrified the nation as he declared himself a "law and order president" and threatened martial law. While looters and violent protesters needed to be told action would be taken against them if they continued, the threat of martial law, and using force against peaceful protesters was the stuff of which dictators are made.

As America watched their president give a speech like that of a tyrannical dictator, America had no idea what was to come. What was to come was beyond disturbing. The president for some ungodly reason wanted to place both members of his cabinet and his secret service at risk for a photo op. Who does that? With millions of Americans unemployed, and now angry at both their financial status and the senseless brutal murder of a Black man, what president decides to saunter across the street in broad daylight? President Trump that's who. As to prove a point to all those who made fun of him hiding in a bunker, President Trump put the lives of many at risk, including his own. America's president wasted how many tax dollars as so he could prove he was not a "bunker baby", and so he could look at the infamous all historic St. John's Church, and hold up a random bible. When asked if the bible the president was holding was his own bible, the president blurted out that it was, "a bible". Vice President Joe Biden reacted in disgust and said that he wished the president would open it once in awhile. To be quite honest, I was surprised the president even knew of the bible. That being said, the photo op moment was quite strange. It was quite strange as the president never to the best of my knowledge had never once strolled across the street as to visit the church. Once there the president did not  kneel in prayer, nor did he lead the nation in a silent prayer. No, the president instead like some D.C. tourist wanted his picture taken in front of St. John's Church. What the president did was shameful. As America is going to hell in a hand basket, this president has peaceful protesters tear gassed and shot with pepper balls for a photo opportunity. The president did not go to the church to mourn for the nation. The president did not go to the church to pray for the nation. The president, I suppose wanted his picture taken in front of the church due to it's being burned during the riots and protests the night before. Funny thing is, if the president was so bothered by the church being burned, why did the president not look around at the church? The church that he had not attended since St. Patrick's Day 2019. What the president did do that day was he completely, unequivocally exploited the church and the bible.

America is broken and unfortunately America doesn't have the leadership that it takes as to repair it.  The president ran on making America great again. The president has not made America "great again". The president has made America nothing more than a nation run by a tyrant that doesn't care about his people. With the firings of now two inspector generals it appears the president is doing whatever he wants to do without having to answer to anyone. Not having an inspector general is frightening, as it leads one to ask just why the president doesn't want anyone checking on his actions. That is the stuff of which dictators are made. Presidents don't use force on peaceful protesters taking away their first amendment rights, dictators do. Of course, some would say our first amendment rights have already been taken away by President Donald Trump or shall I say Dictator Donald Trump? A president that calls any and all news sources "fake news" is a president attempting to control what is said . The truth is, more often than not, what Dictator Don deems "fake news" is almost always "real news". Real news is that many who tweeted that America didn't have a president were right. America doesn't have a president, America seemingly has a dictator, Dictator Donald Trump.

Where Is The President?

Where is the president ? Just where is Donald Trump? Trending on Twitter is that the president is in hiding in an underground bunker beneath the White House. With all due respect, just what in hell is America's president doing going into hiding? Great leaders don't hide, cowards hide. America is not under attack by nuclear weapons. America is under attack by the people, its own people. America is under attack as the people of America are angry and they have every right to be angry. On May 25, 2020, a 46 year old, African-American man was seemingly killed by three police officers while another officer just stood and watched, and America's president has yet to formally address the nation.

Where is the president? Americans are asking, where is the president in America's darkest hour? Where is the president to lead the nation in these troubled times? Where is the president to address the nation, and give the nation the words of compassion, hope, and reassurance that are so desperately needed? Where is the president's address to the nation? Where is the president to call out to all Americans protesting, looting, and rioting, to stop the violence? Where is the president to plead with Americans to come together as one nation under God, and unite? Where is the president? The president is said to be hiding in a bunker under the White House .

The president failed this nation miserably in his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the president is now failing miserably on his handling of the George Floyd protests . The president needs to step up to the plate and lead. He needs to address the nation with the speech of his lifetime, not hide in a bunker underground. Cowards hide underground. Adolf Hitler, Sadaam Hussein, and Osama Bin Ladin, hid underground. American presidents don't hide underground unless we are under a nuclear attack. Unfortunately for Americans, I truly feel this president is incapable of the leadership that is so desperately needed in troubled times. Perhaps the president would like to watch Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta's speech to protesters from the other night?  Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is poised, well spoken, and most importantly, she knows how to lead. As Atlanta was burning, and protesters were looting, Mayor Lance Bottoms calmly pleaded with her citizens involved in the protests to stop the violence. As Lance Bottoms emotionally spoke to Atlanta's citizens, tears were brought to my eyes. Tears were brought to my eyes as she genuinely cared. Lance Bottoms not only genuinely cared, but with her rhetoric she was doing her best to fight for the welfare of her city and its citizens. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms had her defining moment. Her defining moment, was that she was an American Mayor that was fighting for her city. and its citizens.
Unfortunately, it appears that America doesn't have a president that truly cares about his country and his citizens. America has only a president that cares only about himself and his re-election. If America had a president that truly cared about America, and its people, when America surpassed 100,000 lives lost to the coronavirus, the president would have tweeted and or spoken his condolences to the family members of those lost. The president instead chose to ignore that over 100,000 people lost their lives to the coronavirus. That being said, if the president truly cared about the nation, the president would have addressed the nation on the first night of protests and looting. The president should have expressed his condolences to the family of the late George Floyd and begged Americans to stop the violence. The president should have consoled the nation in its darkest hour . The president should have spoken from his heart and attempted to unite the nation and give the nation hope for better days. The president instead, chose to express his condolences and speak his disapproval of the violence at a rocket launch in Cape Canaveral . Blah, blah, blah, blah blah was all I heard as I listened to the president speak to the nation. Luckily for the president. much of the nation failed to watch the rocket launch. The president dropped the ball and lost his final moment to shine. The president's rhetoric was not from the heart . The president used the rocket launch not to show the nation he cared about the late George Floyd, but he used the rocket launch to instead give a campaign speech as to serve himself. Donald Trump spoke not from the heart as he doesn't have a heart. If Donald Trump had a heart, he wouldn't be in hiding. Great leaders don't have to hide, and that's just it, America doesn't have a leader and it certainly doesn't have a great leader. America doesn't even have a president. Where is our president?

RIP George Floyd, You're with your "Mama".

On May 25, 2020, an African-American by the name of George Floyd was seemingly murdered in broad daylight by four police officers in Powderhorn, a neighborhood south of downtown, Minneapolis. Due to a supposedly counterfeit $20. bill, a 46 year old man died being held down by three police officers as another officer watched.
