While actress, Meryl Streep may have been stunned by President-Elect Donald Trump's imitation of a disabled reporter, I and millions of Americans were stunned at Meryl Streep's lack of class, and social graces. The venue was The Golden Globes. It was not the place, nor the time for political discussion. Clearly Ms. Meryl Streep missed the memo on "no politics, and no religion" with others. Unfortunately, Hollywood seems to have decided that awards shows are the correct platform for them to air their political views. I have news for them, it's not. Hollywood awards shows are to be just that, shows with Hollywood stars, and awards. They are not to be shows with Hollywood stars voicing their political views. When America turns to an awards show, America wants to see Hollywood. They want to see Stars, and more stars. They want to see the gowns, shoes, jewelry, and hair. They want to see the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. They want to see who received what award ,and they want to escape from their lives for just one evening. They want to escape and be entertained. They don't want to be lectured, or worse, lectured on the liberal views of the Hollywood elite.
What Meryl Streep did on the stage at the Golden Globes was despicable. It was disrespectful to our newly elected president, and it was built on a lie. Meryl Streep stated that the President -Elect, imitated a disabled reporter, and that was a partial lie. While it was true that the newly elected president imitated a disabled reporter, it was false that he was making fun of the reporter's disability. The fact is, reporter Serge Kovaleski lied. He lied when he said that the President-Elect lied about Arab-Americans celebrating the attack on 9/11. The newly elected president did not lie. In fact, Mr. Serge Kovleski wrote an article himself in 2011, that stated that Arab Americans were indeed celebrating the the attack on 9/11, therefore making himself out to be the liar, and not President-Elect Donald Trump. Meryl Streep expressed her disapproval of the newly elected president mocking the disabled reporter's disability, and he was not doing anything of the sort. The fact is, reporter Serge Kovaleski has a congenital condition that prevents him from using his hands. In Trump's imitation of Kovaleski, he waved his hands about. What Trump was mocking, was Kovaleski's acting as though he had no recollection of what he said, not of Kovaleski's disability. Nonetheless, Meryl Streep's speech on her disapproval accomplished just what Ms. Streep wanted to accomplish. She wanted to be noticed, and she wanted to show her disrespect for America's 45th president. However, while the Streep may well have accomplished what she set out to do, it was not without backlash.
All who were in attendance at the Golden Globes did not agree with Ms. Meryl Streep. Conservatives, Vince Vaughn and Mel Gibson looked as though they were catching flies, their mouths were opened so wide. Why they stayed is a mystery. I would have walked out. The truth is, they should have walked out. Then again, had they walked out, they likely would be without work for a time, as conservatives are black listed in Hollywood. Had the people who sat in attendance at the Golden Globes had any self respect and class, they all would have walked out. They would have walked, as what Meryl Streep did was completely classless. Not only did Meryl Streep publicly disrespect out newly elected president, but she used a disabled reporter for her own purpose. While it's touching that Ms. Streep has such a soft spot for Serge Kovaleski, she and Hollywood have done little to nothing for the disabled. The fact is, actors with disabilities are virtually nonexistent. Hollywood repeatedly seems to prefer hiring healthy, and able actors to play the disabled as opposed to hiring disabled actors to play the disabled. Meryl Streep, and her colleagues in Hollywood might want to think twice when criticizing the President-Elect, as they themselves have no leg to stand on, in this debate. Furthermore, Ms. Streep might want to think about casting stones.
In 2003 Ms. Streep gave a standing ovation to pedophile and child rapist, Roman Polanski. I guess Ms. Streep has an affinity for the disabled, but not for victims of pedophiles and rapists. Then again, Meryl Streep's failed candidate, Hillary Clinton was said to be involved in pedophilia as well as child sex trafficking. While it's not yet proven if Hillary is herself is a pedophile, one can't help but speculate. Nonetheless, Ms. Streep's unwanted anti-Trump speech was nothing short of vile.
Hollywood doesn't seem to get it. The people have spoken. They have spoken with their votes and President-Elect Donald Trump won the election. America cares not what Hollywood has to say regarding domestic affairs, foreign policy, or our recent election. Hollywood is no longer glitz and glamour. Hollywood is not what it once was nor will it ever be again. Hollywood stars of the past knew better than to give political rants at an awards ceremony. They had class. Face it, no one can compare with the likes of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Tayler, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Charlton Heston, John Wayne, Rock Hudson, and Clark Gable. The days of Hollywood being classy and talented are no more. Sadly, a good many Americans have little to know respect for liberal Hollywood. Where at one time, Americans looked up to,and idolized Hollywood, today they loathe liberal Hollywood.They loathe Hollywood as Hollywood needs to be "Hollywood", and they should work on their class, their social etiquette and their dying art, "acting". In the meantime, President Elect Donald Trump will do his best to work on making America great again.
